Illustration Friday: Perennial
I used ink and pencil for this pattern illustration. I could not decide between the white background and the vintage cream background so I decided to include both. Which do you prefer?

  1. Ohhh, Melissa! These are marvelous! I truly love them both. The vint. cream is so soft looking, but the flowers pop a little more with the white. Hmmm...I can't decide. Both=fab!!!!!!

  3. Ooh, these are luscious! While the white background is really crisp, I like how the stem pops a little more on the vintage cream. Reminds me of that sweet scene in the movie, "Tootsie" where Jessica Lange recalls her mother helping her pick the daisy and rosebud wallpaper in her bedroom. Love that scene.

  5. Nice flowers pattern, I prefer the first one, the "creamy" one.

  7. Haha I am getting worried, I opened your page and my mind went 'oooh ' with delight (worried about me I mean not you :). Ahh these are just dancing eh, the way you have lead our eyes through the work. yes I will go cream (I have milk in my coffee) as it harmonizes the design and reduces the stark clinical sense of the pure white. I think it adds to the movement in a way - by reducing the definition between pattern and background - you know, movement blur - pass me my shovel I need to dig my way out of my verbosity :)

    greetings from newcastle :)

  11. Both versions are very beautiful. The vintage cream has a nice soft retro feel, which would look great as printed fabric. My preference is for the clean white background where the flowers seem so alive. But you don't have to decide. They both have their own use.
